heiko made a 3D form, i textured, rendered and photoshopped. an interesting way to collaborate that bore some pretty cool fruit in my opinion. this is a companion piece to phoenix.

One of your better 'almost-symmetrical' pieces - the 2d background elements are done particularly well. You did a good job in disrupting the symmetry in the central area but for me it still falls down a bit because it is so balanced. I understand the crest-type construction but I think it needs more contrast [possibly colour-contrast] to counteract the fairly stale composition that is inherent in such an object.

everything you said is duly noted, and in defence i can only offer that i love the balance of symmetry, even though I understand the need for disruption. i just cant bring myself most times to ruin the balance, even though i know i should...

:) Yeah I get that; the longer you work on a piece and the more effort you put in, the harder it becomes to overhaul the comp' - I've discovered that with even the most scantily detailed designs.

Lovin this one, I for one, do enjoy symmetrical pieces once in a while, and this isn't even all symmetrical. So props to you both.

I love the slight subtle 2D behind the render to just spice things up. Really nice one, one of my favs in the pack.
