What program/process do you go about making these in? Is it like a fractal?
Reply
:iconekud:
ekud Featured By Owner Nov 17, 2006  Professional Digital Artist
No, fractals are random maths based computer generations. These are abstract 3D forms I made by hand in cinema 4d, and composed with the photograph in photoshop.

Lots more work than fractals!

It sounds like it! I've done some 3D work myself (mostly in Maya) and it was very time-consuming. Do you also texture these within the 3d program? It looks like it would be very difficult if it had any illegal geometry.

I create my textures in photoshop and apply them in a seperate program; i actually use Bryce 3D as my render engine, as it generates such lovely results!

(Sorry it's taking me so long to reply.) Anyway: I've never used Bryce, is it fairly easy? I stopped using Maya b/c it was far too intuitive for someone as busy as I. And, what is the price of Bryce?

Bryce is a fairly basic 3D program; most people use it for landscapes and the like. It has a powerful render engine however, so I import my forms and textures in to it.

Price wise, I am unsure what the current version costs; Just google Bryce 3D, you'll be right.

Lovely jubbly. The perspective of the render seems off to me, but the colours are matched really well... was the photo used at all in the render material?

If you use cinema 4d, by chance....it will increase your workflow, 10 times, and its very accurate.

It add's photos to your scenes. Best plug I've seen for this. [link]
